About

My name is Dave, and I am a vagabond traveler. In 2013, I decided to sell my house and personal belongings in Calgary, Canada, and become a true homeless vagabond. Even though I’ve done a significant amount of traveling since I completed my bachelor’s degree in 2002, the world is a massive place and the only way to truly experience it is to dedicate my life to traveling for the next few years. I hope that in my travels I will find the ideal place to call home whilst enjoying plenty of new cultures, activities, and experiences.

Below are links to apps I use for tracking my travel destinations and flights. If you see any photos on this site that you would like to purchase, please explore www.society6.com/baldpacker to see if I have it available. If you don’t see the photo you would like, please leave a comment on the blog and I will do my best to upload it on to my Society 6 page.

This site seeks to inspire and motivate others to leave monotonous, routine, life behind, and enjoy the wild adventures that this crazy world has to offer! I will not say that taking a ‘leave from life’ is possible without risk, sacrifice, and a little bit of effort, but the rewards of travel are so incredible that by not taking the leap, life will be filled with regret. There is always more money to be made and more work to be done, but neither work nor money can buy you more time on this amazing planet and therefore I think it’s important people enjoy the time they do have.

Remember, anything and everything is possible, so please explore this site, post questions or comments, and begin setting your ideas into motion so you can realize your own travel goals! Dream it. Plan it. Do it. Or as Mark Twain so famously wrote:

Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover.
